Both the teams have reached the semi-final this time by showing great power. Real beat Chelsea 4-0 in the quarter-finals, City beat Bayern Munich 4-1. Now waiting for their face-to-face fight.
City won 4-3 in a lively first leg in last season's Champions League semi-final. In the next leg, City was leading 1-0 until 89 minutes. They were leading 5-3 in the two legs. In the final, it can be said that they lost with one leg. But then Rodrigo stunned City by scoring two goals in the 90th and 91st minutes. Karim Benzema put Real in the final by scoring in the 95th minute.
This match is definitely coming up in the discussion before the two teams face each other. "Ready for revenge?" Bernardo Silva was asked in a televised interview after Wednesday's second leg against Bayern. Silva answered directly.
Bernardo Silva hopes for revenge against Real Madrid
“I hope so… of course. We know how difficult the fight with Real is in this tournament. But we will try. Of course I will. We always try. But we feel the team is very confident at the moment. I think we will go (to the final).”
Silver coach Pep Guardiola, however, did not say anything directly. He knows Real well. He just highlighted how big a challenge it is to beat Real in the Champions League.
"I thought I might meet them. We're in the Champions League semi-finals three times in a row and we're thinking, 'Unbelievable, that's great!' But they're in the semi-finals 11 times in 13 years now... Every club knows they have to beat Real Madrid to win this tournament. First it was Barcelona, now Real Madrid….”
The first leg of the semi-final will be held at Real on May 9, with the second leg at City on May 17.
